In the true traditions of Hollywood, where great
entertainers and stars visit US troops in far-flung
hostile regions risking their lives for their nation, Jai
Jawan is a show where our country's best-known film stars
visit some of these unsung heroes of the Indian Army. Jai
Jawan is not just an entertainment show, but an effort to
bring some joy & happiness to the hard and lonely lives of
our jawans who guard our borders in far-flung hostile
regions. Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherjee have already
featured on the show. Both the superstars traveled to the
frontlines to meet the people who make India a safer place
to live in. From the Dras-Kargil sector to the desert of
Jaisalmer, Jai Jawan now travels with Shahrukh Khan to
bring a cheer to the jawans posted at the Atari-Wagah
Border.
If there is one sector of the Indo-Pak border that has
been the centre of attention over many years, it’s the
Atari-Wagah border near Amritsar. Jai Jawan travels to
this popular and historic region to create history once
again. After portraying many roles as an Indian Army
officer, India's superstar Shahrukh Khan gets a taste of
the real thing as he visits the jawans and soldiers of the
Indian Army posted in this sector.
The show begins at the historic Atari-Wagah border where
anchor Barkha Dutt talks about the significance of the
location and introduces Shahrukh Khan to the jawans. She
explains to the audience on how Shahrukh Khan is not just
a guest on the show but is very much a part of it. Soon
its time to meet the man himself and a short drive later
the team arrives at one of the Army units close to the
border area.
It’s an evening of entertainment and emotions as Shahrukh
joins the jawans in their barracks as they unwind for the
day. Not to be tied down to a single location Shahrukh
even tries out his hand in an indoor firing range used for
training commandos.
Soon its time to take the centre stage as Shahrukh meets
over 500 jawans who have been eagerly waiting to catch a
glimpse of the Bollywood baadshah. From then on there’s no
stopping the energetic Shahrukh. Along with the jawans,
the bazigaar hero sings songs from his films and dances to
tunes of his popular numbers. Emotions run high as jawans
later listen to messages from their families back home.
No evening in Punjab is complete without the
quintessential bhangra. The Sikh regiment belts out a
Punjabi song accompanied by a vibrant bhangra performance.
The sound of foot-tapping music fills the air and Shahrukh
too finds himself swinging with the group thereby bringing
the evening to an energetic end.
