SRK - Aish Back Together?

Controversies Controversies. Stars hate them, magazines love them, we are just curious about them! So what is this one about? It is about our King Khan and his strange relationship with the young charming star of Gurinder Chadha's Bride And Prejudice - Aishwarya Rai.

It all started when Aishwarya Rai captured the mind of bollywood hunk Salman Khan. Everything was fine in Khan's fairy tale land until his relationship with Aishwarya Rai hit the rocks. Shahrukh Khan who had nothing to do with this romantic soap opera was dragged into the dirt when Salman Khan decided to pay Miss Rai a visit during the shooting of SRK's production Chalte Chalte. Rumours had it that apparently Salman got drunk and misbehaved with Aishwarya; and, when Shahrukh tried to intervene, he was greeted with abuse and threats by the aggrieved lover. You know the usual Bollywood filmi stuff.

The consequence? SRK kicked Aishwarya from the film, replacing her with Rani Mukherjee. This gave away to a verbal battle between ex-Miss World and Baadshah of tinsel town. "My film was getting affected. As a producer I did completely right and there are no apologies for that," said Shahrukh. Ash hit it hard by saying "Shahrukh Khan may be the greatest in his field, but he has a long way to go as a human being." Ouch!

Following which yet another Khan was involved with Ms. Rai. Aishwarya Rai was once again kicke...erm...terminated from Aamir Khan's "The Rising" because of well, unknown reasons. [Hint: It has something to do with money] What did the princess with a adorable chuckle say? "I opted out of 'The Rising' not because of money. I'm not greedy. I did 'Chokher Bali' virtually for free" Of course!

Come 2004, Yash Chopra's Veer Zaara is releasing soon. Did you know Aishwarya Rai was the original choice for the lead? The director then chose Rani because...yes you're right.

Then all of a sudden the gup-shup was that Aishwarya Rai patched up with SRK! Lets ask him. "I know stories were written about the ‘silent battle’ between the two of us, but truly it was all misread by her and everyone else. At that point of time, the way things happened made me uncomfortable. I mean, any one would be! In fact, she would have been more uncomfortable than I was. I was just feeling a little odd to communicate with her knowing the things that were going on in her life, but as long as they are settled, or even if they are not, I am no longer uncomfortable. We've even spoken after that and worked in a show together. It's a thing of the past". When asked about the patch-up Ash replied, “Yes I have finally broken the ice with him. He spoke to me during my world tour. And I recently met him at Subhash Ghai's party. We share a pleasant camaraderie.”

So is Ash innocent? Sallu a maniacal lover? SRK innocent? Confused? Don't worry, Bollywood politics don't necessarily have ideals, values or logic. As of now everything is calm on the Ash-SRK-Sallu-Aamir forfront. Phew!
