Perhaps you’re wondering what kind of a person becomes a Shahrukh Khan fan. Maybe they come from different places and backgrounds, and are as diverse as Shahrukh’s many roles. For example, I am just a little older than Shahrukh, and I live in Sydney, Australia, where I was born and raised by German migrant parents. I have lived in Germany and have travelled a lot, including to India – my favourite travel destination.
Many years ago, I briefly hosted a music radio show with my late husband, and we wrote a monthly newsletter full of record and CD reviews. That’s when my passion for writing began to grow, and these days I regularly write film reviews and articles at amazon.com and a few other sites. After doing a course in professional writing and having a few short stories published, I have now completed writing a novel. For me, writing fiction and watching and reviewing films are closely connected. I see Shahrukh as a fellow creative artist who expresses human thoughts and emotions verbally and physically, whereas I, as a writer, express them in words on paper.
I like variety and diversity in my own life and creative writing, and this may be one reason I feel particularly attracted to Shahrukh and his ability to play so many different roles effectively. He is very professional, but also comes across as very natural and down-to-earth, which is also a very appealing quality. And last but not least, Shahrukh’s acting style often reminds me of the acting used in silent films before 1930, which I specialize in reviewing because I prefer them to most modern Western films. I firmly believe that if Shahrukh had lived a hundred years ago, he would have been the same phenomenal success as a silent film actor anywhere in the world as he is in India in our modern day. Due to these special qualities, I also feel that he appeals to a wide and international audience and can touch the lives of many different people around the world; like me. |
